The Ark : Melbourne Underwater 2090

The idea of people inhabiting a flooded city raised a lot of questions on the types of activities that they might be doing there, most of them will have to have a connection to the water, to what were its uses or what was to be found below this surface that made it appealing enough to them to set up a life there.
My choice of inhabitants are surfers, all ten of them, sharing the pure passion of surfing this partially flooded city. Due to the lost of their previous beachfront surfing areas, this old city in 2090 will become a surfing heaven. The prevailing winds to the southwest and northeast provide them with significant waves across the site. The gradual rise in the site, shows that the wave height will be relative to the depth of the seabed. So 2 types of surfing areas as established, beginner and expert areas which can be seen from one building that is shaped almost like a vista to these surfing sites, the current Grand Hyatt on the corner of Russell street and Flinders la. These waves are generated on the basis that they are going to be reef breaks instead of beach breaks. So, man-made objects under the water surface will act like coral reefs to generate waves that can be surfed.
