Parametric Design Studio : StudioWSH Manifesto

Through diagram and parameter analysis, a design form was formulated to inform the design outcome. A particular interest with folding shapes inspired from fashion were used as a material system. It was then explored to its full potential by manipulating the form to suit its given brief, a primary school in the city.The first half of the semester was dedicated to an abstract study of form manipulation and creation through parameter study using data from the site analysis. Whilst this was interesting and useful, we wanted to create something of aesthetic significance. The second half of the semester was directed towards research work on functional and usable spaces. A volumetic study of spatial requirements was done to refine the intial brief. The results gave us many variables as to how dynamic a parametric design approch can be and thought us lessons on how to control the extent of it.
